The Joy of Giving: The Infosurv Research Foundation

infosurv_christmas_2015“But you were always a good man of business, Jacob’, faltered Scrooge, who now began to apply this to himself.
‘Business!’ cried the Ghost, wringing its hands again. ‘Mankind was my business; charity, mercy, forbearance, and benevolence, were, all, my business. The deals of my trade were but a drop of water in the comprehensive ocean of my business!’” Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol

Oh, Scrooge!

That perennial holiday classic, A Christmas Carol, features the miserly Scrooge on the fateful Christmas Eve, when he is visited by the Ghost of his former partner Jacob Marley and the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future. Of course he learns the value of charity, the joy of generosity and of giving to others. Most importantly, he learns that lifting others up results in the gift of also being lifted up yourself.

This lesson of A Christmas Carol is fundamental to Infosurv Research and the way we do business. We believe that strong companies give back in their communities, and in that way, become even more successful.

In 2005, Infosurv Research founded the Infosurv Foundation to provide financial support to local non-profit organizations. Each year, a portion of our profits are donated to the Foundation. Over the years, we have supported our community with many thousands of dollars as well as with pro bono research projects for worthy organizations.

At the end of the year, the pool of dollars set aside for the Foundation is split evenly among all Infosurv Associates. They direct the funds to the non-profit organization of their choice, resulting in our ability to support a diverse group of organizations. This year, organizations supported by our gifts, include:

We hope that you, like Infosurv, will celebrate this season with the joy of giving. Please give to support these or any other organizations of your choice. Why? Because sharing ourselves and our success is the right thing to do.

So be Scrooge-like, but at the end of the book:

“I will honour Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year. I will live in the Past, the Present, and the Future. The Spirits of all Three shall strive within me. I will not shut out the lessons that they teach!” Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol
